SAANYS Partners with Bill Daggett at Model Schools Conference

Special Sessions for New York Attendees added, Discount for Members

ModelSchoolsLogoWe are pleased to announce an opportunity for SAANYS members to participate in what we believe will be worthwhile, ongoing professional development collaboration with Bill Daggett and the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE).

BillDaggettCropAs many of you know, Bill is recognized nationally as an education leader and has been a longtime advocate and advisor for New York State public education. Bill has provided keynote presentations and consultation services throughout the state to build awareness and understanding around the need for schools to transform in order to prepare students to meet the demands of college and career readiness. He was a featured speaker last fall at the 2014 SAANYS Annual Conference in Lake George.

SAANYS and ICLE are collaborating to provide educators throughout the state a unique opportunity to participate in professional learning activities to strengthen and build capacity for highly rigorous learning environments for all students.

MovingBeyondFogThe kickoff for this collaborative initiative will be this June 28 to July 1 at the 2015 Model Schools Conference in Atlanta. Several hundred New York educators, as well as several thousand from across the country, will attend. The conference will showcase some of the nation’s most rapidly improving schools, and participants will see firsthand what these rapidly improving schools have done to so dramatically improve student performance.

As an added feature, the national conference in Atlanta will include a special conference-within-a-conference for all New York State participants. Two special sessions will be co-hosted by SAANYS and Bill to identify the strategies and best practices that attendees would like to learn more about and have shared with others in New York. Using the feedback of participants, SAANYS and ICLE will jointly develop a series of professional learning opportunities for next year to build on conference learnings and share best practices. The purpose will be to assist with the enhancement of teaching and leading instruction in our continued efforts to foster increased student achievement in New York.

If you have not already registered delegates from your district to participate in the Model Schools Conference, we encourage you to do so. You can click here to download the conference brochure. To help facilitate your participation, ICLE has extended the April 30 early registration discount for all New York educators. Through our partnership, SAANYS members will also receive a discount on the registration for this summer’s model schools conference in Atlanta. Please visit www.modelschoolsconference.com to register and be sure to enter NYS2015 as the discount code.
