LAURIE GUYON, Presenter
Laurie Guyon is the lead coordinator for Instructional Technology Programs at WSWHE BOCES. Laurie is also the capital region director with NYSCATE and an adjunct professor at Manhattanville University, teaching computer science education. She is the author of ‘SMILE Factor: Leveraging the Power of Educational Technology’ and co-author of ‘ArchiTech: Laying the Foundation for EdTech Coaching.’ Laurie is the co-host of the SMILE Factor podcast, which discusses educational leadership topics. She was named the 2023 Leader in Digital Education by SAANYS and was one of ISTE’s 20 to Watch. In 2022, she won the ‘Best Overall Implementation of Technology’ award from Tech and Learning and the Global Impactor Award from the Digital Citizenship Institute.

Region 6 Leadership Breakfast and Awards Program
May 19 | 9:00 am – 11:00 am
The Vista at Van Patten Golf Club, Clifton Park
Each year, the SAANYS Region 6 Board holds its annual Leadership Breakfast to recognize leadership in all of its forms in our schools. This year our breakfast will be held on May 19th from 9:00-11:00 am at the Vista at Van Patten Golf Club in Clifton Park. The Breakfast recognizes student leaders (in grades 5-12), our senior scholarship winners, and leaders among our administrative colleagues.
Please consider nominating students and colleagues for the Region 6 awards!
This annual event recognizes the 10 SAANYS Region 6 scholarship winners, student leaders from around Region 6, and Region 6 SAANYS member award winners (Excelsior Award, Jennie Pennington Award, Friend of Education Award).
Please click on the award links below to review the criteria for awards and fill out the corresponding nomination forms. We have google forms for each award as well as the option of sending a hard copy or emailing a pdf.
We are looking for your assistance in finding a student to give the keynote address at the event. The keynote would touch on the topics of leadership, perseverance and determination. Please provide any recommendations through the relevant links below.
We hope to hear back from you no later than April 4, 2025 to allow our committee time to discuss and finalize this year’s awards. Thank you in advance.
