SAANYS Suggests Revised language on Suspension Bill

SAANYS had voiced its support for S. 1146-A, a bill regarding student suspensions of transferring students. However, it was SAANYS’ opinion that revisions were needed to the bill regarding the time period for which a receiving district could continue a suspension from the student’s original district and the VADIR reporting requirements.

SAANYS met with Senator Marcellino’s office to discussed these proposed revisions, which led to the bill language being amended. The Senate is considering a full vote on the revised bill.
