Members Meet w/ Commissioner and Governor’s Office

On December 2-3 the SAANYS Government Relations Committee (GRC) met in Albany to engage in discussions with the secretary of education from the governor’s office, the commissioner of education, legislators, and staff from the Department of Labor. The GRC consists of two SAANYS members from each of SAANYS’ 12 regions throughout New York. The two-day meeting consisted of a half-day of preparation to prioritize agenda issues and priorities. Based on the GRC input, staffing shortages, funding for education, APPR, proposed changes to certifications, increasing COLAs for retirees, and revising Tier VI took precedence. Read more here.
