When: March 12, 2026, 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Presenter:
Dr. Joanne Lane
In addition to being a legally binding document, an IEP is the roadmap for instruction and support, fostering academic, social, and functional growth through collaboration between parents, school leaders, and staff providers. Understanding of this foundational document, its implications, and related regulations is essential to successful building leadership.
This session provides school administrators with a practical, compliance-focused understanding of IEP’s through a leadership lens. Informed by federal and state special education law and implementation requirements, the presentation examines administrator accountability, core IEP components, and their relationship to state reporting data. Participants will explore scenarios related to aspects of IEP components and examine how directors of curriculum & instruction, technology, special education, and school business officials share administrative oversight and accountability for IEP implementation. Designed for principals and district leaders, this session emphasizes systems leadership, collaboration, and defensible practices that strengthen compliance and student outcomes.
Those who attend three or four sessions will receive a complimentary copy of The Principal’s Special Education Calendar: A Month-by-Month Roadmap to Building Consistency, Equity, and Compliance in Your School by Dr. Joanne Lane.
