Power Hour – Vaping: A School with a Plan
March 11, 2026 - 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Power Hours are free of charge, but registration is required.

Susquehanna Central School District is in its second year of implementation of a successful vaping prevention program that started in the high school and has expanded to elementary and middle schools. What started as a HS cessation focus group kick started by students who had been suspended for vaping led to a prevention focus in elementary and middle schools and a comprehensive district wide prevention plan for addiction.
In this session you will learn how:
• The anti-vaping efforts look at each level
• The Stanford curriculum lessons were implemented across elementary, middle, and high school
• Two years out, the positive impact includes improved student behavior and grades
• Learn that prevention efforts are part of the Multi-Tiered System
• A regional grant initiative and partnership with Binghamton University vaping research were utilized
Decisions made and obstacles faced along the way will be shared, with all attendees encouraged to share strategies or challenges with vaping in their own schools or districts.
