Building Back Better – Spring 2021 Issue

This issue of Vanguard focuses on a look forward to what we hope will be a brighter, more traditional school year. The 2020-21 school year will indeed be one for the history books, but as with any time in history, there are valuable lessons to be learned from it.

The need for swift shifts in learning models, teaching methods, school management, technology, and providing social-emotional supports pushed schools and educators to think outside the box and to create innovative approaches and practices. Some of those practices are very much worth taking with us into the 2021-22 school year and beyond, while some others will happily be left behind.

SAANYS invites members to share their best practices and lessons learned from this school year, as well as leadership strategies for taking those practices into the future and resisting the urge to just wind the clock back to February 2020. These times have reshaped so much, how can our schools build back even better?

Please submit your best practices by March 15 to mhebert@saanys.org. Articles should be no longer than 1,500 words in length.
