Computer-Based Testing Update
Everyone experiences technology malfunctions, but the ones experienced by students, principals, and teachers recently are more than just frustrating. For the districts piloting CBT, problems with student logins, saving of answers, unintended technological pauses requiring log offs, problems with retrieving answers, and the inability to submit completed tests occurred. As we transition to ESSA, the last thing needed was another set of problems with the assessment program or platform. This situation is problematic for students needing to retake the test or portions of the test, and there could be a potential increase in opt-outs.
SAANYS has been in contact with SED on this issue and has asked how SED is handling the problem. It was indicated that as CBT is currently being used only in pilot sites, SED has made individual contacts to those districts experiencing difficulties.
