Clarkstown School Principal Inducted as SAANYS President
Dr. Harry Leonardatos, principal at Clarkstown High School North in the Clarkstown Central School District, was inducted as president of the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) during the SAANYS Annual Conference in Albany, New York on October 16, 2021.
Leonardatos will serve during the 2021-2022 school year and through October 2022, taking the presidential reigns from Stuart Pollak of Connetquot Central School District, who served during the 2020-21 school year.
An educator for over 30 years, Leonardatos has spent the last 20 years educational administration, serving the Clarkstown Central School District since 2003. During his career, he has received numerous recognitions for his work, including the Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award from SUNY Albany and the Clarkstown Lifetime Achievement Award. Under his leadership as principal at Clarkstown, the high school has been recognized with the Silver Star Medal from U.S. News and World Report and as one of Time magazine’s America’s Best High Schools.
Dr. Leonardatos received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Fordham University, his Professional Diploma in School Administration from The College of New Rochelle, and his Ph. D. in Educational Administration Policy Studies from SUNY Albany.
SAANYS represents nearly 8,000 school administrators, supervisors, and coordinators throughout New York State. As a professional association, SAANYS provides direction, service and support to the membership in their efforts to improve the quality of education and leadership in New York State schools. SAANYS is affiliated with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
