To help coordinate this work, Commissioner Elia recently assembled a Principal Project Advisory Team. The Commissioner has asked this Team to gather information about programs to prepare school building leaders and to identify if improvements are possible. The online survey was developed to help inform this Advisory Team. The survey includes 11 questions and takes 5 minutes to complete. The survey will be open until Tuesday, November 1, 2016. In part, the survey was developed with the help of teachers, principals, superintendents (and district superintendents), board members, and deans of schools of education at institutions of higher education. A total of 201 individuals participated in focus group meetings that took place between August 15 and August 29, 2016. Those who participated in the focus groups field tested the survey.
Those who respond to this online survey will remain anonymous. No single comment will be attributed to any single individual. Remarks that are offered will be combined in summary fashion and provided to members of the Advisory Team. Results will also be reported to the Commissioner and Board of Regents. A summary of results will be publicly posted on a web page.
